The Dietary Guidelines for Americans are updated every five years, and meetings are being held for the 2010 version, since October, 2008. The fourth meeting was November 4-5, 2009. Organizers have been working diligently over the past few months to create infrastructure, identify and apply for funding opportunities and hone their mission. Membership is open to any non-profit or public sector organization that is not associated with the food or beverage industry, or to individuals supportive of the goals. This web site offers an overview and highlights for some of the many program areas that CCE provides from youth development to nutrition to agriculture along with links to local CCE offices across New York State. The site gives updates of statewide initiatives for improving children's physical activity and nutrition. www.healthfinder.gov Health Finder provides links to health-related websites. www.healthylunches.org The New York Coalition for Healthy School Lunches (NYCHSL) is a statewide nonprofit that works to improve the health and well-being of New York's students by advocating for healthy plant-based foods, comprehensive nutrition policy, and education to create food and health literate students. NYCHSL focuses on the entire food environment in schools, not just lunches. Membership is free for now, and you are encouraged to join.
